ABOUT
As one of Europe’s oldest festivals, Valladolid has always been characterized by its willingness to take risks and to innovate in its programming. The festival includes international competitive and non-competitive sections, and a section dedicated to youth films and shorts.
The festival grants numerous cash awards for feature length and short films in the different categories, notably the GOLDEN SPIKE to the best feature length. The Spanish distributor of the film receives a cash award of 70.000 €. The cash awards for feature-length film and shorts totalize 214,000 €. Other awards include: the RAINBOW AWARD for a film showcasing sensitivity towards the LGBTIQ+ community, the GREEN AWARD for the film which best raises awareness of the need to protect our planet and environment, the FIPRESCI AWARD as well as the AUDIENCE AWARD.
Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature or a short to this festival for application to its International Promotion Program.
