CALL FOR ENTRIES

 (Narrative and Documentary Feature films) 

Telefilm Canada is currently accepting Canadian documentary and narrative features on behalf of the Donostia-San Sebastián International Film Festival  and Canadian narrative features on behalf of the Busan International Film Festival (“BIFF”). Features  

The delegate from the Donostia-San Sebastián International Film Festival will screen films remotely. The Busan programmer responsible of Canadian cinema will screen the submitted Canadian features in a private theatre in Montreal from June 16 to 19, 2025.   

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

  • be at least 60 minutes long to qualify for submission; 
  • Be a World or International Premiere


ABOUT 

The San Sebastián International Film Festival is Spain’s leading film festival specializing in feature-length narrative films. Its primordial role is to showcase the year’s most disquieting and innovative films. The festival boasts many awards and monetary prizes.   

The festival attracts more than 150,000 spectators and presented close to 200 films. These are the international categories.   

  • The Official Competition: dedicated to World and International premieres.   
  • Zabaltegi-Tabakalera: a competitive section with a cash award of €20,000, open to the most varied, surprising, and attractive film proposals of the year.   
  • New Directors: a competitive showcase reserved to first or second features, with a cash award of €50,000 to be shared between the director and the Spanish distributor.   
  • Perla (”Pearls”) presents a selection of the best films shown at festivals during the year and the Audience Award comes with €50,000.   

Culinary Cinema: a non-competitive section for gastronomy-related features.  

Canadian films programmed recently at San Sebastian: RUMOURS (2024), LES RAYONS GAMMA (2023), SOMETHING YOU SAID LAST NIGHT (2023), CRIMES OF THE FUTURE, LE BRUIT DES MOTEURS, IL PLEUVAIT DES OISEAUX, RÉPERTOIRE DES VILLES DISPARUES, THE SONG OF NAMES, LES DÉMONS, FÉLIX ET MEIRA, TAKE THIS WALTZ, BARNEY’S VERSION. 

Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature film in the festival for application to its International Promotion Program.
