ABOUT
Aspen Shortsfest is an Oscar®-qualifying film festival recognized as one of the premier short film festivals in North America. Each April enthusiastic audiences, filmmakers and special guests from around the globe gather to participate in public screenings, panels, workshops, and other festivities that spotlight the art and craft of short moviemaking.
The festival presents several international competitive sections including Best Animation, Best Comedy, Best Drama, Best Documentary, and Best Student Short.
In 2023, Nicole Bazuin’s Thriving: A Dissociated Reverie was recognized with a special mention in the Comedy section. The films Shallots and Garlic (Andrea Nirmala Widjajanto), Simo (Aziz Zoromba), Municipal Relaxation Module (Matthew Rankin), See You in my Dreams (Ariane Louis-Seize), Nanitic (Carol Nguyen), À la vie à l’amor (Emilie Mannering), and Canary (P.H Dallaire, B. Therriault) were also in selection.
Telefilm Canada recognizes selection of a short in the Festival for application to its International Promotion Program.
