About

The Slamdance Film Festival began in 1995 and runs parallel to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City. The festival, programmed by filmmakers, is dedicated to emerging directors. Slamdance presents 30 features and 70 short films.

A considerable number of Canadian features and shorts were selected and have won awards in recent years.

In 2021, six Canadian short films were selected: Every Day’s Like This (Lev Lewis), Ain’t No Time for Women (Sarra El Abed), Faraway (Aziz Zoromba), My Layers (Susanne Serres), Endomic (Camille Hollett-French and Ipek Ensari) and The Danger in Front (Alexis Chartrand).

The Slamdance is an Oscar® and BAFTA Qualifying Film Festival.

Telefilm Canada recognizes a selection in the Festival for application to its International Festival participation Program.
