About

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) is an eleven-day event that presents a diverse slate of 200 films (narrative, documentary, animation) to over 90,000 film enthusiasts. In addition to showcasing a diverse spectrum of films, tributes, galas and panel series with industry professionals are programmed during both weekends of the Festival.

BIFF has sections for documentaries that address social justice issues, nature and oceanography, food and wine, and the performing arts. Additional sidebars highlight contemporary world cinema from Nordic countries, Israel, Eastern Europe, Asia and Spain/Latin America.

In 2020, Monia Chokri’s A Brothers Love, Myriam Verreault’s Kuessipan, Nicole Dorsey’s Black Conflux, Sophie Deraspe’s Antigone, Jean-Philippe Duval’s 14 days, 12 Nights, Rogério Soares’ River Silence, David Curtis’ Sovereign Soil and Jeremy Lalonde’s James vs. His Future Self, were among the selected films presented at the festival.
