About
Established in 1985, the Warsaw Film Festival is well established and recognized on the festival circuit. It programs films with a world, international or European status in several INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION sections for feature-length narratives, documentaries, and shorts. The festival allocates numerous prizes (Audience, Ecumenical, FIPRESCI, etc.) as well as cash awards.
It also showcases a COMPETITION 1-2 reserved to debut and second features, and highlights independent, innovative, and “rebellious” fictions and docs in its FREE SPIRIT COMPETITION. Non-competitive section includes DISCOVERIES with narratives and documentaries dealing with contemporary subjects which have been presented at other festivals, and FAMILY CINEMA.
Last year, Canadian micro-budget feature THE NOISES OF ENGINE was showcased in the FREE SPIRIT COMPETITION, and Canadian documentary A.RTIFICIAL I.MMORTALITY in DISCOVERIES.
Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature film in this festival for application to its International Promotion Program.
