2023 Eco-Awareness Survey

Context summary: Telefilm Canada commissioned a second industry sustainability awareness survey to assess the level of awareness, interest, and participation in sustainable/green production practices of screen content creators. 333 respondents completed the survey. This second iteration allows us to assess changes in knowledge and implementation of sustainable practices over the previous year. It helps measure the traction of this priority in our industry. The outreach was done with the support of Telefilm’s key industry partners: Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM), Black Screen Office (BSO), CBC, Canada Media Fund (CMF), Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), Indigenous Screen Office (ISO), National Film Board (NFB) and Radio-Canada. New questions added for this 2023 edition included: if scripts are incorporating climate-related themes, and on-screen sustainable behaviours. Respondents were also asked about the platforms they use to keep informed.
