ABOUT
Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is a leading festival in Asia. The festival and its market, the Asian Film Market, component serve both as a rallying point for the international film industry and as a gathering place for its audience of over 200 000 attendants. Last year, 269 films from 70 countries were programmed. A total of 1,500 professionals from 45 countries participated and actively engaged in production, investment, imports, and exports.
Each year, three to six Canadian features are selected by the festival. The festival’s delegate will be considering films for the international sections: WORLD CINEMA, for established filmmakers, FLASH FORWARD, reserved to first and second features and MINIGHT PASSION, for genre films.
Canadian features invited to recent editions: CHAMBRES ROUGES, IN FLAMES, THE KING TIDE, BROTHER, RICEBOY SLEEPS, CRIMES OF THE FUTURE, THE FAMILY, WILDHOOD, ANTIGONE, GUEST OF HONOUR, THE SONG OF NAMES, WHITE LIES, BLOOD QUANTUM, MATTHIAS ET MAXIME. In 2019, FABULEUSES, won the Audience award.
Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature film in the festival for application to its International Promotion Program.
