Call for entries

(Short films) 

The Festival de Cannes is currently accepting submissions for short films.

Directors’ Fortnight and Critics’ Week, which are independent of the Festival de Cannes, are also accepting entries for short and medium-length films.

Please note that all films must be submitted directly to the festival via their respective submission platform.

  • Registration fees: yes (varies according to the section).
Eligibility
  • Must have been completed within the 12 months prior to the date of the Festival
  • Must not have participated in any festival outside its country of origin (whether in competition or out of competition).*The Festival de Cannes does not accept shorts that already screened in an international festival in its country of origin.
  • Must not have been shown on the Internet or broadcast on TV, or commercially released outside its country of origin.

The Cannes Film Festival (Competition) selects 10 short films (15 minutes or under) to compete for the prestigious Palme d’or. For more information, please refer to the regulations.

The Directors’ Fortnight is organized by the Film Directors’ Guild. This non-competitive section programs approximately 15 international short films (under 60 minutes). For more information, please refer to the regulations.

The Critics’ Week administered by the Syndicat Français de la Critique de Cinéma, programs 10 short and medium-length films (under 60 minutes) to compete for two awards.  For more information, please refer to the regulations.

Telefilm Canada recognizes a selection in the Festival for application to its International Promotion Program.
