NOT SHORT ON TALENT at Clermont-Ferrand 2018

Clermont-Ferrand, France, February 5 to 9, 2018

Call for entries

(Canadian short films)

Telefilm Canada is currently accepting submissions for its market showcase Not Short on Talent presented at Clermont-Ferrand 2018.

Not Short on Talent is a Telefilm Canada initiative that presents a selection of new Canadian short films at international markets. At Clermont-Ferrand, the curated program of 90-minute will comprise a diversity of short films that will screen in the official theater and program of the 33nd SHORT FILM MARKET.

The market runs parallel to the 40th International Short Film Festival at Clermont-Ferrand from February 5 to 9, 2018.

This showcase is designed to increase the visibility of new Canadian short films and promote talent to the 3 500 industry delegates registered at the Market, including buyers and festival curators.

Admissibility criteria

All genres are eligible: fiction, documentary, experimental and animation.

To be considered, a film must:

  • Be produced in 2017;
  • Have a maximum running time of 20 minutes.

The program of shorts will be curated by Danny Lennon of Montreal-based Prends ça court!, who has been a programmer for over 15 years. He will screen and evaluate the entries and make a final selection and recommendation. He will also attend the Market and promote the showcase on site.

Decisions will be communicated by email by Telefilm Canada by mid-November.

If selected, you will have to deliver your film file according to the specs provided to the lab where films will be assembled. An image and an excerpt of your film will also be required for promotional use.

Telefilm Canada will cover the cost of the Market screening, the “Canada” stand located in the Exhibition Hall of the Market, as well as for the assembling of the selected films on a screening support. Selected films will benefit from a promotional campaign developed and fully funded by Telefilm Canada to ensure exposure for the selected Canadian films.
