The Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival is currently accepting entries for its 2017 edition.
Please note that all films must be submitted directly to the festival.

Eligibility
- Films must not have been released in Spain;
- Films must have been produced in 2016/2017;
- Fantastic themes, interpreting this concept in a wide sense, and always keeping in mind that quality and the creation of tendencies are a priority objective;
- Screening formats: DCP, 35mm, HDCam (except SR), DigiBeta;
- Format for short films: HD quality file (*.mov). Alternately, non-encrypted DCP will be accepted.
SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is the number one fantasy film festival in the world offering encounters, exhibitions, presentations and screenings of fantasy films from all over the world. It has also been declared “Qualified Festival” by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences®. That makes Sitges able to present its award-winning shorts from its Official and Animation sections as candidates for the Oscars®.
Founded in 1968 as the 1st International Week of Fantasy and Horror Movies, today the Festival is an essential rendez-vous for movie lovers and audiences attracting 130,000 spectators, 757 journalists, 700 industry guests, and reaching 55,000 Facebook followers and 42,500 on Twitter.
In recent years, an important number of Canadian features screened at the festival: AFFLICTED (Best Special Effects), ANTISOCIAL, ENEMY (Méliès d’argent for Best Feature Film in Competition Official Fantàstic European Selection), HAUNTER, THE COLONY (Best Feature Film in Competition Official Fantàstic Panorama Selection), MAPS TO THE STARS (Best Actress Julianne Moore), THE END OF TIME, THE RETURNED, VIC + FLO ONT VU UN OURS (VIC + FLO SAW A BEAR) and TURBO KID (Best Music, Youth Jury Award).
Several categories of the festival are competitive and offer awards: the Official Fantàstic Selection Noves Visions, Midnight X-Treme and Anima’t and the Citizen Kane Award (“Premi Citizen Kane al millor director novell” ) is granted to the best sensational new director, which Brandon Cronenberg won with ANTIVIRAL in 2012.
As of this year, the festival is also accepting submissions for TV Series and VR/360˚.
Telefilm Canada recognizes selection in the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival as part of its calculations for the Success Index and for application to its International Marketing Programme.
