Study on audiovisual content for young audiences: analysis report released
Telefilm Canada is announcing the release of a new analysis report on audiovisual content for young audiences.
Conducted by Ampere Analysis, the study provides an in-depth look at the rapidly evolving media landscape for Generation Z and Generation Alpha, along with an overview of key industry trends at both the Canadian and global levels.
The report is organized around four key areas:
- Evolving consumption habits
- Trends in content commissioning
- The current state of content distribution
- Canadian exports of youth-focused audiovisual content
Key highlights
- Young audiences play a central role in the audiovisual ecosystem, largely due to their high consumption levels and their influence on household subscription decisions.
- Despite a global decline in investment and commissioning, youth content continues to perform well, with growing reliance on existing intellectual property, particularly in animation.
- Canada remains a key market for this type of content, both in terms of commissioning and exports.
- While major platforms dominate in terms of catalogue size, local platforms stand out for their stronger presence of Canadian content and their offering of long-form formats.
