Telefilm Canada announces results from the Diverse Languages Subcommittee consultations
Telefilm Canada is providing an update on the support of diverse language films. In June 2021, a Diverse Languages Subcommittee was created with the purpose of establishing a framework to finance Canadian films in diverse languages (films majority told in languages beyond English, French or Indigenous languages). Based on the feedback of the subcommittee, Telefilm would like to inform Canadian producers that the Production-language requirements were revised.
Announced earlier today, the newly updated guidelines of the Production Program reflect the change in production-language requirements to support projects in all languages under this program.
The updated Production Program guidelines can be found here.
Telefilm would like to thank members of the Diverse Languages Subcommittee for their contribution and time.
Telefilm continues to listen and learn to build a more representative screen-based industry – one that reflects a culture of mutual respect, dignity and inclusivity.
