Telefilm Canada opens the Theatrical Documentary Program for fiscal 2024-2025

Telefilm Canada is announcing opening dates of the Theatrical Documentary Program for fiscal 2024-2025 with updated Guidelines and Essential Information Guide now available on the Program webpage.   

Under the Theatrical Documentary Program, Telefilm aims to support feature-length documentaries that engage Canadian and international audiences through theatrical releases and that have a cultural impact and foster public engagement, while contributing to Canada’s cultural heritage. 

Changes to the program are made in alignment with Telefilm’s strategic objectives to evolve and optimize its funding approach as part of Telefilm’s ongoing modernization efforts.  

Key Dates: 

• All applications, including for postproduction and applications to the Indigenous Stream must be submitted to Telefilm between March 19 and April 4, 2024. 

Important changes: 

• Minority coproductions and projects financed at the postproduction stage will now have the choice between a non-repayable contribution or a repayable investment.
