Changes to Canada Feature Film Fund (CFFF) development programs for 2012-2013

29 February 2012

Montreal, February 29, 2012 Telefilm Canada wishes to inform clients of its CFFF development programs that changes will be made as of April 1, 2012.

After holding several productive consultations with the industry over the last few months, Telefilm is implementing the first phase of its program redesign project, which focused on its development assistance programs.

Among the changes, it should be noted that, as of April 1, 2012, all development programs will be regrouped under one program*.

Going forward, eligible applicants will be feature-film production companies having produced at least one Canadian fictional feature film that was theatrically released in Canada (of at least 75 minutes’ length) in the last five years.

Applicants will be able to submit their project(s) at any time during Telefilm’s fiscal year (as of April 30, 2012) via eTelefilm (online).

Telefilm will continue to support a variety of genres, production-budget sizes and regions. Telefilm will also continue to support new talent as well as creators from minority communities who, if they don’t quality as eligible applicants, will have the possibility of working in association with eligible feature-film production companies acting as mentors. These companies could then be eligible for additional funding.

For more detailed information, we invite you to consult the new development guidelines, which will take effect on April 1, 2012 and govern all funding applications received from that date forward. An FAQ document is also available on our website, as well as information on transition measures for 2012-2013.

Concurrent with these changes, Telefilm is developing an innovative funding program targeting new talent in the audiovisual and/or digital media industry. The program will combine assistance for micro-budget productions and marketing. Details of the new program will be announced shortly.
