Eight Canadian films to be screened at the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

27 June 2016

Montreal, June 27, 2016 — Canada will be out in force at the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, held in the Czech Republic from July 1 to 9, 2016, with a selection of eight Canadian films, including one in official competition. The second feature from director Jesse Klein, We’re Still Together, is the only Canadian film among the 12 selected in official competition. The seven other Canadian titles, among them Xavier Dolan’s It’s Only the End of the World (Juste la fin du monde), winner of the Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Denis Côté’s Boris Without Béatrice (Boris sans Béatrice), and Philippe Lesage’s The Demons (Les démons) are continuing to make the rounds of the European film festival circuit, this time in non-competitive sections.

Canada will also have a presence on Karlovy Vary’s Grand Jury. Eve Gabereau  will serve as one of the jury members for the Festival’s official competition. Gabereau is co-founder of the Anglo-Canadian distributor Soda Pictures and also a coproducer of the film Invention, which will be screened at the Festival’s Imagina section.

Over the years, many Canadian films have screened at Karlovy Vary, one of the world’s oldest film festivals.
