Eight Canadian films to delight Asian audiences at fifth Beijing International Film Festival
Montreal, April 14, 2015 – Telefilm Canada is proud to announce that eight Canadian films have been selected for screening in the non-competitive Panorama and Forward Future sections at the fifth Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), which runs this year from April 16 to 23. Lindsay Mackay (Wet Bum), director, Paula Devonshire (Wet Bum), producer, Jeremy Thomas (Ally Was Screaming), director, Colin Sheldon (Ally Was Screaming), producer, and Aaron Au (Preggoland), producer, will be part of the Canadian delegation attending the Festival and will present their respective films and represent Canada.
It should be noted that Canada has been present at the Beijing Festival for the last four years, and that last year the Festival selected eight Canadian films. In 2014, Richie Mehta’s Siddarth screened in official competition and went on to win the Tiantan Award for best feature film.
The Beijing International Film Festival falls under the responsibility of State administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. It is organized by the Film Bureau of the SAPPRFT and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Copyright.
