INDUSTRY ADVISORY – CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: CODE MOTION PICTURES

29 July 2009

Vancouver, July 29 2009 – Your short film could be part of the sights and sounds of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

CODE, the Cultural Olympiad’s digital edition, is calling for submissions of original concepts for CODE Motion Pictures, a themed strand of short films showcasing human bodies in motion. The selected films will be featured on towering high-definition screens in Vancouver and Whistler, and on computer monitors around the world, during the 2010 Winter Games.

The theme of the short films is the human body in motion; its power and frailty in facing the challenges of sport, art and life. Art films, physical comedy, compelling stories of courage and endurance from dance to athletics: you supply the creative vision, we’ll power up the screens.

In partnership with Telefilm Canada and the Association of Provincial Film Funding Agencies, CODE will commission the production of up to 12 two-minute shorts from filmmakers across Canada. It’s an opportunity for Canada’s filmmakers to show the world what they’re made of, and for audiences across the country and around the world to enjoy the full range of Cultural Olympiad programming.

The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2009. Go to vancouver2010.com/code/motionpictures to learn more about CODE, and for guidelines and application details.
