INDUSTRY ADVISORY – SLATE DEVELOPMENT PILOT PROGRAM ENGLISH-LANGUAGE MARKET – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

28 July 2009

Montreal, July 28, 2009 – Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce a new deadline of September 30, 2009 for submissions to the Slate Development Pilot Program for the English-language market through the Canada Feature Film Fund (CFFF).

Launched in 2007, the Slate Development Pilot Program provides established production companies with three or more projects in advanced stages of development, and a distributor commitment, with predictable funding in the form of a non-interest bearing line of credit.

The resources provided through the Program are intended to support production companies in developing projects with high box office potential, in a range of genres. Producers and distributors working together in this Program receive greater predictability of financial support, decision-making autonomy, flexibility in the use of resources, increased administrative efficiency, and a fast-track to production decision making.

The Slate Development Pilot Program is specifically geared toward Canadian production companies in the business of feature film development and production. This Program serves as an alternate source of financing for active production companies, who do not yet qualify for a performance envelope. The Slate Development Pilot Program also helps ensure that funds in the selective program are efficiently managed while reducing demand for and competition in the main Development Programs of the CFFF.

Guidelines and a clarified FAQ document for the Slate Development Pilot Program are available at www.telefilm.ca along with detailed business policies.

Applications should be submitted to the Telefilm office in your region by September 30, 2009.
