KPMG Audit Report for Telefilm Canada’s Production Program Now Available

Telefilm Canada has released KPMG’s report on the audit of the funding process for the English- and French-language components of the Production Program.

The overall objective of the audit was to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of organizational structures, internal controls, and processes related to the allocation and funding process from the application assessment stage, through to the issuance of decision letters. The scope of the audit focused on Telefilm’s current practices in place for the funding process within the Production Program, and the related governance and operations supporting decision-making and oversight of the program.

The audit was conducted from September 2019 to February 2020 and covers the period of April 2019 to February 2020. The report presents findings and recommendations resulting from in-depth fieldwork.

A summary of the key strengths observed through the audit included, among others, Telefilm’s funding process that ensures funding is awarded with consistency and transparency. Access to the full report can be found here.

Over the past year, Telefilm’s management has introduced several improvements to help support the effectiveness and efficiency of the Production Program funding process. The audit identified opportunities to improve existing practices, and Telefilm’s management accepts the findings and recommendations presented. An action plan is underway to address each recommendation.
