Telefilm Canada announces the appointment of Karynn Austin as Interim Regional Feature Film Executive – Western Region

Vancouver, October 31, 2011 – Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce that Karynn Austin has been appointed Interim Regional Feature Film Executive – Western Region, effective November 7, 2011.

Since January 4, 2011, Karynn Austin has filled in for Stephanie Azam, National Feature Film Executive – English Market, during her maternity leave. Karynn’s new mandate, which goes into effect November 7 and which has been extended to March 31, 2012, will allow her to focus on providing support to feature films from the Western Region.

“Karynn Austin has a wealth of industry experience in all facets of the business, from production to marketing of theatrical and home entertainment,” said John Dippong, Telefilm’s regional director of business development for the Western region. “Karynn is very good at assessing the potential of projects at the early stage – an area of expertise she has held at a high level for over 20 years. Moreover, she also truly understands the importance of developing a diverse talent pool, and will no doubt be a strong advocate for emerging filmmakers in this region.”

Karynn Austin has wide professional experience in film distribution. Before joining the Telefilm team, she served as director of marketing and distribution at Equinoxe Films and TVA Films. She has particular expertise in marketing and promotional strategies and in script analysis.
