The Talent Fund welcomes Sandi Treliving as new Advisory Committee Chair

21 September 2021

Telefilm Canada and the Talent Fund are pleased to welcome Sandi Treliving, a member of the Talent Fund’s Advisory Committee, as the new Chair of the Talent Fund.

A dedicated philanthropist, leading advocate for mental health and supporter of Canadian arts and culture, Sandi is a director on the CAMH Foundation Board and a founding funder of womenmind, a CAMH community of donors committed to closing the gender gap in mental health by supporting female scientists conducting research in this area. Sandi has headed various CAMH initiatives, including co-chairing Canada’s 150 Leading Canadians for Mental Health, the signature UnMasked event and was a campaign advisor for the $200-million Breakthrough Campaign, Canada’s largest hospital fundraising campaign for mental health. She has also had a long and successful career in retail banking.

With an innate understanding of the power of supporting and encouraging people to tell their stories, Sandi is excited to champion the Talent Fund to not only support emerging talent in a competitive industry but also give a voice to creators from underrepresented communities.

Sandi Treliving replaces Christine Magee, Co-Founder and Co-Chair of Sleep Country, as Chair. Christine served as Chair since December 2018. Her passion to support emerging creators in the screen-based industry will continue as she remains a member of the Advisory Committee.

New to the Advisory Committee is Nathan Yeung, a serial entrepreneur with over ten years of building, developing and consulting small-to-medium sized businesses in the entertainment, oil and gas, fast-moving consumer goods, and professional services sectors. Currently, Nathan’s firm Find Your Audience is helping businesses operationalize their marketing functions. His quest to learn further and appreciate the arts is coupled with his support of health-related charities such as Vancouver General Hospital and IWK in Halifax.

Contributing to the success of emerging talent in Canada, the Talent Fund is a private donation fund with the goal of helping to foster the success of Canadian cinema. Since its inception in 2012, the Talent Fund has raised over $17M and supported 165 projects. To support the next generation of emerging filmmakers, please visit thetalentfund.ca
