Telefilm launching season 2 of Sortez le popcorn podcast featuring exclusive interviews with leading Francophone players in cinema

Michel Côté, Émile Gaudreault, Mariana Mazza, Mélanie Maynard, and many more…

Telefilm Canada will launch Season 2 of Sortez le popcorn on August 20. The podcast, hosted by Catherine Beauchamp, will be available on C23, Spotify, Apple and Google Podcasts with episodes also broadcasting on 98.5FM. Sortez le popcorn focuses on Francophone creators and talent who have already made their mark in cinema or who are in the process of doing so. In a series of lively interviews, they take us behind-the-scenes on some of the great films they’ve worked on, and reveal a few surprising stories along the way.

 A rare one-on-one rendezvous with one of the giants of Quebec cinema. From laugh-out-loud comedy to heartbreaking drama, Michel Côté has that special je ne sais quoi in spades. This diehard Francophone refuses to compromise even if it means saying ‘no’ to playing opposite Robert De Niro. His family is his greatest joy, and it shows in the roles he’s played, proof positive that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. To that end, Côté reflects on his performance in Piché, entre ciel et terre (Piché: The Landing of a Man),C.R.A.Z.Y., and De père en flic (Father and Guns) 1 and 2.

Episode 2: Grandir sur les plateaux de cinéma (growing up on set)

Growing up almost entirely around adults, (almost) getting your first kiss on screen, and desperately wanting to be free from being pigeonholed as a child star, Marianne Verville, Pier-Luc Funk, and Catherine Brunet can’t remember when they were not on set. The trio gives their no-holds-barred impressions of their profession.

Going back to a time when actors braved stormy weather, endured hours of make-up, handled horses, and even wore corsets or cassocks. Marie Tifo, Rémy Girard, and director Charles Binamé expand on the complexity and importance of period films like Séraphin: Un homme et son Péché (Séraphin: Heart of Stone), Maurice Richard, and La Passion d’Augustine (The Passion of Augustine).
