NOMAD celebrates Canadian talent at the Festival du nouveau cinéma in partnership with Telefilm Canada

14 October 2014

NOMAD LIVE event to spotlight the festival experience through the eyes of François Girard, Philippe Falardeau, Claude Chamberlan and Shinya Tsukamoto, among others.

Montreal, October 14, 2014—On October 16, 2014, between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m., NOMAD, a Montreal content agency that creates transmedia narratives, and Telefilm Canada invite the general public to celebrate Canadian talent at the NOMAD LIVE event, to be held at the Dôme du Festival at the Quartier des Spectacles. Participants will have the opportunity to watch an immersive film created by NOMAD based on interviews and other moments shot behind the scenes at the Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC). The dance troupe Human Playground, singer-songwriter Jesse Mac Cormack, and interdisciplinary artist Johnny Ranger (aka Mind Roots) will all perform at the same time, under the creative directorship of Moment Factory founder Jason Rodi. The event will redefine the spirit of “new cinema”.

A NOMAD crew has been onsite at the Festival 24/7 since October 8, 2014, shooting behind-the-scenes moments, movie premieres, red carpet events, talks and interviews with filmmakers, participants and organizers, following, among others, Canadian directors François Girard and Philippe Falardeau, FNC program director Claude Chamberlan, and Japanese director Shinya Tsukamoto. Everything is being webcast live on NOMAD’s site at www.thenomads.com/FNC/. During the NOMAD LIVE evening, all of this content will be condensed into a 360o presentation mixed with live footage shot by a crew wandering through the streets of Montreal.

Several of the interviews are also available for viewing on NOMAD’s YouTube channel.

“You can’t just watch a NOMAD film, you have to live it,” said Jason Rodi, NOMAD’s President and Creative Director. “We couldn’t have asked for a better platform for this project than the Festival du nouveau cinéma, which celebrates new cinema.”

Carolle Brabant, Executive Director of Telefilm Canada, added: “We’re proud to join with NOMAD in celebrating the FNC, a wonderful showcase for film. Both the NOMAD LIVE webcast and evening will spotlight Canadian filmmakers and talents while also harnessing the incredible audience energy that flows from public happenings such as this.”

“We’re delighted to be able to take part in this new experience, which allows audiences around the world to go live behind the scenes at our event,” added Nicolas Girard Deltruc, Director General of the Festival du nouveau cinéma.
