Official statement by Michel Roy, Chair of Telefilm Canada, following revelations concerning filmmaker Claude Jutra

Montreal, February 17, 2016—In light of recent revelations concerning filmmaker Claude Jutra’s past, Michel Roy states that “Telefilm Canada will continue to support Québec Cinéma, as it renames its annual gala in honour of Quebec film, and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, as it renames its Canadian Screen Award for best first feature film.”

For Mr. Roy, “It is important that we celebrate excellence in Canadian filmmaking through the awarding of these prizes.”
