Official statement from Carolle Brabant, Executive Director of Telefilm Canada, on the passing of Cinepix co-founder John Dunning

Montreal, September 26, 2011

“On behalf of everyone at Telefilm Canada, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the Dunning family on the passing of John.

“A film pioneer, he had a burning passion for Canadian cinema and was well known for giving aspiring young filmmakers a chance to work and gain experience in the industry. In fact, as a veteran Canadian producer, he gave a start to the careers of Ivan Reitman, David Cronenberg and Don Carmody.

“Together with Andre Link, he helped lead the way in Canada, producing over 50 feature films and influencing the careers of countless Canadian directors, producers, screenwriters and actors.”
