Official statement from Carolle Brabant on the passing of Jacques Bensimon

“On behalf of all Telefilm Canada employees, I would like to pay tribute to Jacques Bensimon, former commissioner of the National Film Board of Canada, screenwriter, director and producer. He passed away on August 26 at age 69 after a courageous battle against cancer.

“Passionate about cinema and dedicated to emerging talent, he was a strong advocate of short film and contributed to various key initiatives in this regard. Jacques Bensimon served on the board of Telefilm Canada from 2001 to 2006. Our organization benefited greatly from his experience and expertise.

“On behalf of the entire Telefilm team, I extend our deepest condolences to his family.”
