Strong Canadian presence at Power to the Pixel 2013 in London, England

Toronto – October 3, 2013 – Canadian digital media projects will be prominently featured this year at the 7th annual Cross-Media Forum in London, England. Organized by Power to the Pixel, the yearly Conference explores the latest in multi-platform storytelling – from new narrative techniques, to building brands, to engaging today’s interactive audiences – and everything in between.

The Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, Canada Media Fund, Merging Media, National Film Board of Canada, Ontario Media Development Corporation and Telefilm Canada have joined efforts to present an impressive lineup of talented Canadian digital media producers and to promote their projects on the world stage in London.  Several events are planned for Canadian producers to showcase their work.

Five award-winning Canadian project teams have been selected by the Cross-Media Forum to participate in the Pixel Market including:

  • Avatar Secrets – Ramona Pringle, Ramona Pringle Productions
  • Chasing the Sun – Paul Shoebridge and Michael Simons, the Goggles Media Group
  • Heaven Must be Boring – Amit Breuer and Thomas Wallner, Amythos Media and Deep Inc
  • Life and Mind of Mark LeFriest/Breaking the Box – Gabriel London and Jonathon Corbiere, Found Object Films, The Secret Location and Thought Café
  • Space Janitors – Davin Lengyel, Space Mop

Leading interactive producers from Canada also attending who will be presenting their creative talents are:

  • Evan Jones from Stitch Media
  • James Milward from Secret Location
  • Jay Bennett from Smokebomb
  • Kevin Glasier from Tactica
  • Sarah Arruda from Helios Design labs

Canada’s Merging Media has just announced that it will be awarding the Merging Media Pixel Market prize for best cross-media project with potential to co-produce with Canada.

World renowned artist Stan Douglas and National Film Board of Canada’s Executive Producer Loc Dao will preview their latest interactive collaboration the Storyworld Circa 1948 on the first day of the Cross-Media Forum as well as at a special joint event with the BFI London Film Festival where Stan Douglas will showcase and discuss his most recent works.

The Cross-Media Forum will take place between the 15 and 18 of October 2013 in association with the 57th BFI London Film Festival. The four-day event incorporates a Conference, a Think Tank and the two-day finance and co-production market – The Pixel Market.
