Telefilm Canada and the SODEC sign memorandum of understanding

Montreal, October 14, 2011 – Telefilm Canada and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) today signed a memorandum of understanding that lays the groundwork for future collaborations related to the development and implementation of their marketing and promotional activities. The two organizations, major investors in the audiovisual industries of, respectively, Canada and Quebec, are making official their wish to work closely together in order to optimize their resources. The stated goal of their agreementis to generate administrative cost savings while offering better service to their respective clienteles. 

“This is excellent news for our clients and our partners,” said Carolle Brabant, Executive Director of Telefilm Canada. “The synergies that we’ll create will allow us to get the most out of our promotional activities and, as a result, enhance the promotion of Canadian talent at home and abroad.” 

“I am delighted by this collaboration, which promises to allow us to expand our contribution to the development of Quebec’s cultural entreprises and to the dissemination of Quebec culture,” stated François Macerola, President and CEO of SODEC.

The five-year memorandum of understanding, the first of its kind for the two organizations, favours mutual assistance, particularly in the planning of local, national and international events; promotional operations; administrative expenses; the development of promotional strategies; and advertising expenses.
