Telefilm Canada invests over $18 million in 30 low-budget English-market and Indigenous projects
Telefilm Canada announces an investment of $15,737,918 in 25 English-language feature films selected under the low-budget stream of the Production Program, including international co-productions.
Telefilm also financed five projects under its Indigenous stream, representing an investment of over $3 million.
This year’s selection reflects strong regional diversity and includes works with broad audience appeal, spanning a wide range of genres, from science fiction and horror to comedy and drama.
Last month, funding for 11 high-budget English-language feature films was announced.

Telefilm continues to receive a high volume of applications, particularly from Ontario and the Western region, under its Production Program. For the English-language market, 226 projects were evaluated under the low-budget stream, including international co-productions, representing more than $146 million in funding requests. Under the Indigenous stream, 18 projects were assessed, totaling nearly $12 million in funding requests.
Additional funding decisions, including those for the Documentary Feature Program, will be announced in the coming weeks. Statistics on all films financed during the year will be published in the 2026–2027 Annual Report.
For each region, as well as for the Indigenous stream, advisory committees composed of external and internal members evaluated the projects and made recommendations to Telefilm. The decision-making process aims to ensure a balanced production portfolio reflecting a diversity of genres, budgets, company sizes, regions across the country, and perspectives. The names of the selection committee members will be published on the Advisory Committees for Project Financing Applications page of Telefilm’s website once all funding decisions have been finalized.
