Telefilm Canada invites producers to submit their feature films to the pan-Canadian Oscar selection committee
The Committee will select the film to represent Canada for consideration as a possible nominee in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 87th Academy Awards
Montreal, June 18th, 2014—Telefilm Canada invites producers to submit their feature films to the pan-Canadian Oscar selection committee for a chance to represent Canada for consideration as a possible nominee in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 87th Academy Awards.
In order to be considered, films must have been released commercially in theatres for at least seven consecutive days between October 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014 in 35 mm, 70 mm or Digital Cinema Package (DCP)1 format. Complete eligibility requirements can be found on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science Website.
The pan-Canadian Oscar selection committee will make a decision at the end of September. The selected Canadian film must be presented to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science no later than October 1, 2014.
Telefilm chairs the pan-Canadian selection committee composed of more than 20 representatives of the Canadian film industry, but does not have a vote. As stated in the rules set forth by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, only one film from each country will be accepted in this category and it must be selected by members of the industry.
