Telefilm Canada promotes homegrown talent at the 31st annual Vancouver International Film Festival

05 September 2012

Vancouver, September 5, 2012 – Telefilm Canada’s participation at this year’s Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), held from September 27 to October 12, 2012, underlines its commitment to promote Canadian film talent. Telefilm will once again take part in the VIFF Film & Television Forum, as well as be present at both the Telefilm Canada International Tête-à-Tête Meetings and the Film & Television Forum Speed Dating sessions. New this year to the Festival, Telefilm is bringing its popular Talent to Watch Q&A series to Vancouver, an initiative first launched at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2011.

“The VIFF selection once again highlights the diversity of talent that abounds in the Western region and across the country,” said Carolle Brabant, Executive Director of Telefilm Canada. “Through our various initiatives during the Festival, our goal is to encourage players in the industry to form partnerships and to stimulate public interest in Canadian cinema.”

John Dippong, Director of Industry Promotion, Western Region at Telefilm Canada, added: “This year’s Canadian Images program truly has something of interest for everyone, and demonstrates the huge depth of filmmaking talent we have from coast-to-coast in Canada.”
