Telefilm Canada releases its 2023-2024 Annual Report
Telefilm Canada is pleased to unveil its annual report for fiscal year 2023-2024. The annual report is now available online.
Highlights of the 2023-2024 Annual Report:
- Telefilm administered a total of $138.8 million administered, with $106.5 million in support of the Canadian audiovisual industry, and $32.3 million in promotional support.
- Investments in 177 feature-length fiction and feature-length documentary films
- 102 Canadian film festivals and 73 industry activities were supported through the National Promotion programs.
- The 2022-2024 Strategic Plan was finalized and the 2024-2027 Strategic and Corporate Plans were developed following a rigorous collaborative process.
- The Indigenous Reconciliation Plan was launched following a collaborative process with the Telefilm Indigenous working group and key industry partners.
- Overall, indicators relating to equity, diversity, and inclusion met or exceeded all targets set for the Development and Production programs.
- Phase I of the Eco-Responsibility Action Plan was completed.
- A new sector, Sustainability, Talent and Culture, was created to undertake sustainability initiatives and to implement environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors throughout the organization.
- Telefilm Canada and the Talent Fund welcomed 18 new filmmaking teams with projects selected from the Talent to Watch program.
- For the second year, Telefilm’s Audience Engagement initiative helped rekindle public interest in Canadian film productions. More than 60 events were held in 32 cities across nine Canadian provinces, targeting both English and French markets.
- 72 per cent of all 2023 box-office receipts for Canadian films released in theatres were generated by films receiving financial support from Telefilm.
- 57 film and television co-production projects involving 22 partner countries were governed by treaties. Telefilm financed 33 official co-productions.
