Telefilm Canada warmly congratulates Carolle Brabant on her honourary distinction of Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres
February 24, 2017 – Telefilm Canada warmly congratulates Carolle Brabant, Executive Director, on her honourary distinction of Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
With this title, the French Government recognizes Ms. Brabant’s contribution to the strengthening of cultural exchanges between France and Canada in the audiovisual industry, as well as her volunteer work with the Fondation Pinel, a leading reference in the field of forensic psychiatry in Quebec and around the world.
“On behalf of everyone at Telefilm Canada, I applaud Ms. Brabant on yet another prestigious distinction in what is an already exemplary career,” said Michel Roy, Chairman of the Board, Telefilm Canada.
Previously, Ms. Brabant was awarded the 2012 Excellence in Leadership Award from Canadian Women in Communications (CWC), as well as was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women for 2012 by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN).
Most recently, she was given the honourary title of Fellow, as awarded by the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec in recognition of exceptional CPAs who have distinguished themselves in their respective spheres of influence.
“I am very proud of this distinction, and share this honour with all of my colleagues at Telefilm Canada. This recognition is a result of combined efforts and achievements made possible by the teamwork that has been a cornerstone of my experience here. I also take this opportunity to congratulate Denis Côté and Pierette Robitaille, with whom I share this honour,” said Carolle Brabant.
Telefilm Canada has a long-standing relationship with France. Since 2005, we have recommended over 200 treaty coproductions with this vital partner. Elsewhere, each year Telefilm spearheads the Canadian presence at the Cannes Film Festival and the Marché du film.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the Canada Media Fund, Telefilm promotes Canadian productions and talent, via the Canada Pavilion, at the MIPTV and MIPCOM/MIPJunior markets in Cannes, France.
Over recent years, Telefilm Canada has partnered with UniFrance films for My French Film Festival, an online French-language film festival accessible in nearly 200 countries, as well as for the promotion of films in the U.S. through the Canada Cool and the Young French Cinema tours.
A ceremony hosted by Ms. Emmanuelle Pavillon-Grosser, Consule générale adjointe de France à Québec et Conseillère de Coopération et d’Action culturelle, was held yesterday evening to honour Ms. Brabant and fellow recipients Pierrette Robitaille, actor, and Denis Côté, filmmaker and producer.
