Telefilm Canada announces new drawdown schedules for the Production and Theatrical Documentary programs

Telefilm Canada announces a newly simplified method to accelerate the drawdown schedules for the Production program and the Theatrical Documentary program, as part of Telefilm’s revised corporate plan mandate to adapt and provide flexibility within its funding programs.

This newly accelerated process will benefit new and existing clients as well as Telefilm’s administration team, as this modernization will ease the administrative burden on producers and allow for a faster and more significant disbursement of funds earlier in the production (see below for percentages of disbursements). Moving forward, the new drawdown schedules are available to all production contracts signed with Telefilm.

Important changes:

  • For Telefilm’s participation of up to and including $500,000: disbursements will be made in 2 (85% and 15%) or 3 (60%, 30% and 10%) installments, based on Telefilm’s risk analysis.
  • For Telefilm’s participation of up to and including $1,500,000: disbursements will be made in 3 (60%, 30% and 10%) or 4 (35%, 35%, 20% and 10%) installments, based on Telefilm’s risk analysis.
  • For Telefilm’s participation of over $1,500,000: disbursements will be made in 4 installments (35%, 35%, 20% and 10%).

Business policies will be updated in the Production program webpage and the Theatrical Documentary program webpage in the coming months to ensure that producers are aware of their obligations, and to ensure compliance with certain policies that are not tied to any drawdown in the new schedules.
