Telefilm Canada: Special Examination Report from the Office of the Auditor General of Canada now available
Telefilm welcomes the conclusions of the Special Examination Report from the Office of the Auditor General of Canada (OAG). The OAG concluded that Telefilm had good practices with respect to corporate and operational management, although certain improvements were recommended. According to the OAG, Telefilm’s systems and practices examined did not contain any significant deficiencies. Telefilm is pleased to point out that it has already implemented solutions to certain recommendations made by the OAG.
The special examination carried out by the OAG is carried out at least once every 10 years and is used to determine whether Telefilm’s systems and practices provide reasonable assurance that its assets are safeguarded and controlled, its resources are managed economically and efficiently, and its operations are being carried out effectively. The OAG has chosen to limit the scope of the special examination to Telefilm’s corporate management practices and management of operations.
Even before the completion of the audit, Telefilm had already begun to reflect, and take concrete action, in relation to the themes raised in the report’s recommendations; particularly the review and modernization of performance indicators related to strategic and operational objectives.
Telefilm is continually evolving and adapting to reflect the changing nature of the screen industry in Canada, as evidenced by its most recent corporate plan launched on July 16, 2020.
