Telefilm Canada supports 64 film festivals under the Promotion Program for festivals with start dates between July 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023

Under the General Admission Stream and the Open Access Stream  

August 8, 2022 – Telefilm Canada is supporting 64 film festivals that run between July 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023, under the Promotion Program’s General Admission Stream and Open Access Stream (Reopening Fund), for a total of $725,000. 

Telefilm received a total of 66 eligible applications in the first intake of both streams. A total of 40 film festivals is receiving funding under the General Access Stream and 24 film festivals under the Open Access Stream. Eligible applicants that did not receive funding from the General Admission Stream were automatically considered for funding support in the Open Access Stream.   

The Promotion Program is comprised of three distinct streams: the General Admission Stream, the Limited Edition Stream and the Industry Initiatives Stream. Since 2021, the program is also responsible for distributing the Reopening Fund of $10 million over two years to support the recovery and enhancement of film festivals across the country for in-person and hybrid activities, through the General Admission Stream, the Limited Edition Stream and a newly established Open Access Stream for festivals that do not receive support through the other two streams.

Announcement for the second intake of the General Admission Stream and Open Access Stream will be published in late February of 2023.  

Announcement of the Limited Edition Stream and the Industry Initiatives Stream supported in this fiscal year, for festivals and activities with start dates between September 1, 2022, and September 30, 2023, will be published in late January of 2023.
