Telefilm Canada has updated the Production and Theatrical Documentary programs
Changes come into effect immediately
Montreal, July 6, 2017 – Telefilm Canada wishes to inform clients of some important changes to the Production and Theatrical Documentary programs. These changes will apply to all new projects submitted under these programs going-forward, as well as to projects that have already received a positive decision letter prior to July 4, 2017 but for which the financing agreement has not yet been signed.
Encoding and availability in both official languages: two new obligations
Going forward, all productions financed through the Production and Theatrical Documentary programs must:
- be encoded for digital platforms at the time of their release
- must have a subtitled or dubbed version in the other official language at the time of their release
Telefilm’s financial participation for projects with budgets less than $2.5M
For projects with total budgets less than $2.5 million, clients can now choose between:
- A non-recoupable contribution from Telefilm Canada, or
- An investment with simplified recoupment with a maximum term of two years
Please consult the Production Program or Theatrical Documentary Program pages of our website for further details.
Please note that Telefilm Canada is currently reviewing the guidelines for the Production and Theatrical Documentary program. Once completed, changes to these programs will be announced during the summer of 2017.
