Telefilm Canada relaunches the Marketing Program for fiscal 2022-2023
Telefilm Canada is relaunching the Marketing Program for fiscal 2022-2023 with updated Guidelines and Essential Information Guide now available on the Program webpage.
This program is for Canadian distribution and production companies seeking financial support for the marketing and distribution of their feature film project(s). Canadian distribution companies seeking to be recognized as eligible distributors under other Telefilm programs may also apply.
Changes to the program are made in alignment with Telefilm’s strategic objectives to evolve and optimize its funding approach as part of Telefilm’s ongoing modernization efforts.

Important changes:
- Telefilm may allow access to funding under this program on a case-by-case basis to a distribution company that meets the basic eligibility criteria but does not qualify as an Eligible Distribution Company (in which funding and recoupment terms are the same as for production companies).
- Clarification of the eligibility rules and process for distribution companies can be found in the updated guidelines.
- Community engagement plan is now required for all projects that have not been funded by Telefilm in production.
- Administration fees cap has been increased to 20% (up to $30,000)
- Telefilm’s preapproval requirement for costs related to release on ancillary platforms has been removed.
