Telefilm Canada releases its Eco-Awareness Survey Report
September 13, 2022 – Telefilm Canada commissioned its first industry sustainability awareness survey by survey experts Leger. The survey was conducted between June 5 and July 28, 2022, with the outreach support of Telefilm’s key industry partners: L’Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM), Black Screen Office (BSO), CBC, Canada Media Fund (CMF), Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), Indigenous Screen Office (ISO), National Film Board (NFB) and Radio-Canada.
This survey targeted screen content creators in order to measure and assess the industry’s level of awareness and interest in sustainable/green production practices. A total of 407 respondents working in the audiovisual industry completed the 10-minute online survey.
Ninety-six percent of respondents are not only interested in sustainable/green production practices, but they also think it is important to incorporate these practices in the workplace. The survey data also shows that people are interested in learning more about practices and expanding their understanding. Opportunities for education, training and working in partnership across the sector are all important.
